Parent Tips

🚼Pram

Vilnius Old Town (a UNESCO site) has cobbled lanes that can be bumpy, but the main pedestrian street Pilies gatvė is manageable and the newer town center across the river has smooth, wide pavements. Buses and trolleybuses are generally low-floor. Vingis Park and Bernardine Garden offer flat, stroller-friendly green space away from the cobbles.

🍽️Food & Eating

Local chains like Čili Pica (pizza) and Forto Dvaras (traditional Lithuanian food, with high chairs and kids' portions) are dependable choices. Supermarkets like Maxima are everywhere for formula, snacks, and familiar baby food brands. Most restaurants are relaxed about children, even in the evening.

🛡️Safety

Vilnius is one of the safer capitals in Europe, with low rates of violent crime and a walkable, well-lit center. Tap water is safe to drink. As in Riga, winter ice is the main practical hazard, so a summer or shoulder-season visit is easiest with a toddler.

🏥Hospitals

Vilnius University Children's Hospital is the main pediatric facility and has experience treating international patients, though English fluency varies by department. Pharmacies are plentiful in the center and stock standard children's medicines. Travel insurance is recommended since English-speaking private clinics are limited outside the city center.
