The Main Square (Rynek Glowny) and surrounding Old Town streets are cobbled but wide and manageable with a sturdy stroller, and the Planty park ring around the Old Town offers smoother, greener paths. Wawel Castle hill has some steps, but a step-free path around the side is usually available.

Polish restaurants are typically warm toward children and pierogi, a Krakow staple, is an easy toddler favourite. Milk bars (bar mleczny) offer cheap, simple home-style food that's ideal for fussy eaters, and the Cloth Hall market area has plenty of casual food options.

🛡️Safety

Krakow is a safe, historic city with low crime rates, and the pedestrianised Old Town feels comfortable to explore with young children. Tap water is technically drinkable but many locals prefer filtered or bottled water. Cobblestones and tram tracks are the main physical hazard to watch for with a stroller.

The University Children's Hospital of Krakow (Uniwersytecki Szpital Dzieciecy) is a leading pediatric facility in the region. Private clinics like Medicover have English-speaking staff and are popular with expats and tourists. Pharmacies (apteka) are widespread and generally have someone who speaks basic English.
