Tulum's beach road and hotel zone are mostly sandy or unpaved, making strollers impractical; a baby carrier is the practical choice for the beach clubs, ruins, and cenotes. The pueblo (town) center has some paved sidewalks that work better for wheels.

Beach clubs and restaurants along the hotel zone are increasingly used to families, with high chairs at the more established spots, and taco stands in the pueblo are cheap, quick, and generally fine for toddlers. Bottled water is the safer choice for mixing formula.

🛡️Safety

Tulum has seen a rise in organized crime and petty theft in recent years, mostly not targeting tourists directly but worth being aware of, particularly at night; stick to well-reviewed hotels and beach clubs. Strong currents can occur, so supervise swimming closely, and use bug spray given the mosquito presence.

🏥Hospitals

Tulum's local clinics handle minor issues, but the nearest major hospital with strong pediatric care is in Playa del Carmen or Cancun, both over an hour away, so many families buy travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage. Pharmacies (farmacias) in town can help with everyday medications.
