Guadalajara is full of family-run fondas and taquerias used to serving kids, plus modern food halls like Mercado Francia with varied options. Torta ahogada, the local specialty, can be ordered without the fiery chile de arbol sauce for little ones. Stick to bottled water and busy, high-turnover food stalls.

Central, tourist-frequented neighborhoods are generally safe during the day, but Jalisco does have cartel activity, so avoid unfamiliar outer neighborhoods and stay alert at night. Traffic is heavy and drivers assertive, hold hands firmly near roads. Petty theft in crowded markets is the main practical risk.

Hospital Country 2000 and Hospital San Javier are well-regarded private hospitals with pediatric units and some English-speaking staff. Pharmacies (Farmacias Guadalajara, a local chain) are on nearly every corner. Confirm travel insurance covers private care, as this is standard practice for tourists.
