The French Quarter's sidewalks are narrow, uneven, and often crowded, so a compact stroller or carrier works better than a wide one, especially on Bourbon and Royal Streets. The streetcar line and City Park are both easier going with wide paths.

🍽️Food & Eating

Family-run spots like Mother's and Cafe Beignet welcome kids, and the beignets at Cafe du Monde are a guaranteed hit. Many Bourbon Street bars aren't appropriate for toddlers, but the food-focused blocks of the Quarter and the Garden District are much calmer.

🛡️Safety

Stick to well-trafficked areas like the French Quarter core, the Garden District, and City Park; petty crime and some rougher neighborhoods mean it pays to be alert after dark and use rideshares rather than walking long distances at night. Hurricane season runs June through November.

🏥Hospitals

Children's Hospital New Orleans is a dedicated pediatric facility with a strong reputation. Ochsner and Touro also have accessible ERs closer to the Garden District and Uptown.
