Central Sofia has a mix of smooth pedestrianized streets (like Vitosha Boulevard) and older, cracked pavements that need a bit more care with a stroller. The metro is modern with lifts at most central stations, making it one of the easier ways to cross the city with a pram. Borisova Gradina, the city's large central park, is flat, green, and genuinely popular with local families.

Casual Bulgarian restaurants (mehana) are relaxed about children and serve simple grilled meats, banitsa (cheese pastry), and yogurt that toddlers tend to like. International chains and malls like Mall of Sofia have food courts if you need something familiar and fast. Supermarkets (Billa, Kaufland) are well stocked for formula and baby food.

Sofia is a low-key, safe capital with little tourist-targeted crime, though as in any city it's sensible to watch belongings on public transport. Tap water is safe to drink. Pavements and older buildings can be uneven, so keep an eye on toddlers who are still finding their feet.

🏥Hospitals

University Pediatric Hospital in Sofia is the main children's facility and treats international visitors, though English proficiency varies among older staff. Pharmacies are widespread in the center and generally well stocked. Travel insurance is recommended since English-speaking private clinics are limited outside a handful of central options.
