Resorts and the waterfront restaurants along Lini Highway are relaxed about kids and can usually do simple grilled fish, chicken, or pasta. The Port Vila Market is a good, cheap source of fresh tropical fruit for toddler snacks, just wash everything well.

Vanuatu is generally low-crime and welcoming to families, though petty theft can happen around the market and bus stations, so keep bags zipped. The bigger factors to plan around are cyclone season (November to April) and reef-safe sun protection, the equatorial sun is intense even on cloudy days.

Port Vila Central Hospital handles routine issues but is under-resourced for anything serious, and many expats use the smaller private Vila Central Clinic for basic care. For major medical emergencies, families typically medevac to Australia, so decent travel insurance with evacuation cover is essential.
