🚼Pram
Central Papeete has ordinary paved city footpaths, fine for a stroller, though most families base themselves at overwater or beach resorts on Tahiti's coast or nearby Moorea, which have flat, landscaped grounds. Public buses (le truck) and taxis are more practical than walking long distances in the tropical heat.
🍽️Food & Eating
The Papeete waterfront roulottes (food trucks) are a fun, casual, and surprisingly toddler friendly way to eat, with quick service and outdoor seating. Resort restaurants elsewhere on the island have high chairs and familiar international menus, though French Polynesia is generally an expensive place to eat out.
🛡️Safety
Generally safe with low violent crime, though petty theft from cars and beaches is worth guarding against. Strong tropical sun and coral reef cuts are the main physical hazards, so reef shoes and sun protection are worth packing.
🏥Hospitals
Centre Hospitalier de Polynésie Française in Papeete is the main hospital with reasonable facilities and some English-speaking staff, though French is the primary language for medical care. Pharmacies are well stocked in Papeete but more limited on outer islands.
