Naples has chaotic, narrow streets, heavy scooter traffic and uneven pavements that make strolling genuinely stressful, and most families find a baby carrier far more practical than a stroller here. The historic centre (Spaccanapoli) is atmospheric but crowded and not pram-friendly.

Naples is the birthplace of pizza, and simple, cheap, kid-friendly pizzerias are everywhere, including famous names like Sorbillo and Di Matteo. Portions are generous and menus are simple, which suits fussy eaters well. Supermarkets in residential areas stock standard baby supplies.

🛡️Safety

Naples has a reputation for petty crime and chaotic traffic that's worth taking seriously: hold hands tightly near roads, as scooters don't always stop for pedestrian crossings. Tap water is safe to drink. Away from the busiest, most crowded streets, the city is warm and welcoming to families.

🏥Hospitals

Ospedale Pediatrico Santobono is a major children's hospital and one of the largest pediatric centres in southern Italy. English-speaking staff are less common than in northern Italy, so translation apps are useful. Pharmacies are plentiful throughout the city.
