Venice is genuinely one of the hardest cities in Europe for strollers: there are hundreds of small bridges, nearly all with steps, and no cars at all, so a lightweight foldable stroller or baby carrier is essential. Vaporetto water buses have step-up boarding that's manageable but requires some coordination with a pram.

🍽️Food & Eating

Restaurants around the main sights are touristy but generally welcoming to children, with pizza, pasta and simple seafood widely available. Quieter neighborhoods like Cannaregio have more relaxed, family-run trattorias away from the crowds. Supermarkets are small but adequately stocked with baby basics.

🛡️Safety

Venice is very safe with low crime, though acqua alta (seasonal flooding, mainly autumn to early spring) can make some streets impassable with a stroller. Tap water is safe to drink. The canals themselves are the main practical hazard, so keep a close hand on toddlers near open water.

🏥Hospitals

Ospedale SS. Giovanni e Paolo in the city centre has an emergency department, reachable by water ambulance if needed. English is spoken by some staff but not guaranteed. Pharmacies are found in most sestieri (districts) for everyday medicine.
