The Malecon, one of the longest oceanfront boardwalks in Mexico, is flat, wide, and excellent for strollers for miles. The historic Centro has some cobblestone patches but is generally manageable. Most family resorts are in the Zona Dorada (Golden Zone), which has smooth, purpose-built paths.

🍽️Food & Eating

Seafood is the star here, and beachfront palapa restaurants are used to families with kids' portions of fish and shrimp. The Centro's Pino Suarez market is a good, informal introduction to local produce and snacks. Stick to bottled water and well-cooked seafood from busy spots.

🛡️Safety

The Zona Dorada tourist strip and Malecon are well patrolled and feel comfortable for families, though Sinaloa's reputation for cartel activity means it's worth sticking to known tourist areas and avoiding travel after dark outside them. Ocean currents on open beaches can be strong, swim where lifeguards are present. Tap water isn't safe to drink.

🏥Hospitals

Sharp Hospital Mazatlan and Hospital Angeles both offer private, English-friendly care with pediatric capability. Pharmacies are common along the Malecon and in the Golden Zone. Confirm your travel insurance covers private treatment, it's the standard route for visitors here.
