🚼Stroller
Palermo and Recoleta have broad tree-lined boulevards and parks perfect for strollers. San Telmo's cobblestones are tough going. The Subte (metro) has limited accessibility but buses accommodate strollers at the front. Parks are a centrepiece of family life here — Bosques de Palermo is vast and beautiful.
🍽️Food & Eating
Buenos Aires is brilliant for families — Argentines absolutely adore children and restaurants welcome them at all hours. Parrilla (steak), empanadas, pasta, and pizza are reliable toddler wins. The city eats very late (dinner from 9pm) — plan an early restaurant visit for toddlers.
🛡️Safety
Generally safe in tourist neighbourhoods (Palermo, Recoleta, San Telmo) but petty theft is common in crowded areas. Economic instability means currency exchange situations require care. Avoid the La Boca neighbourhood except during daytime hours in the Caminito tourist strip.
🏥Hospitals
Hospital Italiano and Hospital Alemán both have English-speaking staff and solid emergency care. The British Hospital (Hospital Británico) in San Telmo has English as its primary operating language and is widely trusted by expatriate families.
