Marseille's Vieux Port and the Corniche coastal path are flat and stroller-friendly, but the city's hillier neighborhoods and some older streets around Le Panier have steps and uneven pavement. Public transport (metro and tram) is reasonably accessible.

🍽️Food & Eating

Marseille's food scene centres on Mediterranean and North African influences, with casual restaurants around the Vieux Port well used to families, though bouillabaisse itself, the city's famous dish, is a pricier, adult-oriented affair. Simple pizza, pasta and grilled fish are easy to find for kids. Supermarkets are well stocked.

🛡️Safety

Marseille has a reputation for more petty crime and rougher edges than other French cities, particularly around the Gare Saint-Charles station and certain northern neighborhoods, so stick to the well-trodden Vieux Port, Corniche and Calanques areas with a family. Tap water is safe to drink.

🏥Hospitals

Hopital de la Timone includes a major children's hospital and is one of the largest pediatric centres in the south of France. Pharmacies are widespread. English isn't as commonly spoken here as in Nice or Paris, so a translation app is handy.
