πΌStroller
Porto's dramatic hills and granite cobblestones make it one of Europe's more challenging stroller cities. The Ribeira waterfront district and Vila Nova de Gaia (wine lodges side) are flatter and manageable. The Foz area near the ocean is flat and excellent for families. A carrier saves significant stress in the historic centre.
π½οΈFood & Eating
Porto is outstanding for family dining β pastel de nata, fresh fish, grilled chicken, and local bread make toddler feeding easy. The rooftop restaurants and casual riverside tascas are relaxed about children.
π‘οΈSafety
Very safe β Porto has low crime by European standards. The famous tram areas have tourist pickpocketing β keep bags secure. The hilly streets require vigilance about stroller runaway and toddlers near the steep Douro riverbanks.
π₯Hospitals
Centro Hospitalar Universitario de Sao Joao has a large paediatric department. The private Hospital da Luz Porto and Hospital CUF Porto both have English-speaking staff and are used by expatriates for non-emergency paediatric consultations.
