The Waterfront and Suria Sabah mall area downtown are flat and easy to navigate with a buggy, and island resorts have paved paths. Jungle and waterfall excursions further out are not stroller territory, so bring a carrier for those day trips.

🍽️Food & Eating

Seafood markets and family restaurants around the Waterfront are used to tourists and happily serve plain grilled fish and rice for kids. Malls like Imago and Suria Sabah have food courts with high chairs and familiar chain options for backup meals.

🛡️Safety

Kota Kinabalu itself is generally safe and easygoing, though petty theft on the waterfront at night is worth being aware of. Island trips and Mount Kinabalu Park excursions require sensible planning around weather and boat safety, especially with young children.

🏥Hospitals

Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu and KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital both offer good private care with English-speaking staff and are used to treating international visitors. Public Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the fallback for emergencies.
