Family safari lodges typically serve buffet-style meals with a kids' table or early sitting, and staff are very used to catering to fussy toddlers with pasta, chicken, and chips available on request. Bring familiar snacks for game drives since options are more limited once out on safari.

This is a malaria area, so anti-malarial precautions (insect repellent, covered clothing at dusk, and a doctor's advice on suitability for infants) are essential before travel. Wildlife safety rules are strict and well enforced at lodges, and children are always supervised closely around unfenced camps.

🏥Hospitals

The Kruger area has good private clinics in Hazyview and Hoedspruit for minor issues, with Mediclinic Nelspruit about an hour away for anything more serious. Most reputable lodges carry medical evacuation insurance as standard, and families should check their own travel policy covers this too.
