Fresh fruit is abundant and a reliable snack option. Because the islands rely on imports, expect higher prices and occasionally limited toddler-specific products like formula, so bring what you can't do without.

The Galapagos is very safe from a crime perspective, the real considerations are wildlife etiquette (keep a respectful distance from sea lions and iguanas, which can bite if provoked) and sun exposure on boats and beaches. Strong equatorial sun means hats, sunscreen, and shade breaks are essential even on cooler days. Seasickness is common on inter-island boat transfers, worth discussing with a doctor for young children.

Medical facilities are basic: Puerto Ayora has a small public hospital and a couple of private clinics, adequate for minor issues but not equipped for serious emergencies, which require evacuation to mainland Ecuador. Bring a well-stocked first aid kit and any regular medications, since pharmacy stock is limited. Comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is essential for this destination.
