Resort paths in Poipu and Princeville are paved and stroller-friendly, but Kauai's famous trails, including any part of the Napali Coast, are rugged and unsuitable for strollers, so a hiking carrier is the way to see them. Beach access typically involves a stretch of soft sand.

Casual, family-run spots like Duane's Ono-Char Burger and the food trucks around Hanalei are relaxed with kids and quick for hungry toddlers. Most resorts also have poolside dining that's easy with young children.

🛡️Safety

Kauai is very safe from a crime standpoint; strong currents and shore breaks are the main hazard, so choose calmer, lifeguarded beaches like Poipu Beach Park for young children. Flash flooding can occasionally close roads after heavy rain.

🏥Hospitals

Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue is the island's main hospital with an ER, though it's a small facility and serious pediatric cases may require transfer to Oahu. Pack any specific medications, since selection on the island is more limited than in a big city.
