San Pedro town has no cars to speak of, golf carts are the main transport, and the sandy, sometimes uneven streets mean a stroller is only moderately useful, many families rely on a carrier for beach and dock areas. The island is flat, so at least there are no hills to contend with. Resorts on the island generally have manageable, level grounds for younger children.

Golf cart-accessible restaurants along the main strip serve fresh seafood alongside simple rice, beans, and grilled chicken that toddlers do well with. Fry jacks (a fried bread breakfast staple) are a popular, easy option for kids. Being an island, some imported toddler products can be pricier or less available, so pack essentials.

Ambergris Caye is generally safe and relaxed, with a strong tourism-dependent local economy that keeps the main areas well looked after. The main practical hazards are sun, heat, and water safety: check conditions before letting toddlers near the reef or dock edges, and use reef-safe sunscreen given the protected barrier reef. Standard petty theft precautions apply at busy tourist spots.

San Pedro has a small polyclinic and Hyperbaric Medical Center handling common issues and diving emergencies, but serious cases are flown to Belize City or Miami. Bring a basic first aid kit and any regular medications, since pharmacy stock is limited on the island. Comprehensive travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is strongly recommended.
