The modern city center around Avenue Habib Bourguiba and the seaside suburb of La Marsa both have good pavements that work fine with a stroller. The old medina, like most in North Africa, has narrower alleys and some steps where a carrier is more practical.

🍽️Food & Eating

Tunis has a genuinely relaxed, French-influenced cafe culture, and restaurants in areas like Sidi Bou Said and La Marsa are very used to families with simple pasta, grilled meats, and fries on the menu. Local dishes like couscous and brik are usually mild enough for adventurous toddlers to try.

🛡️Safety

Tunis is calm and generally safe for families in the main tourist and residential districts, though it's sensible to check current travel advisories before visiting given occasional political demonstrations downtown. Tap water is chlorinated but most visitors stick to bottled water for young kids.

🏥Hospitals

Clinique Hannibal and Clinique El Amen are well-regarded private hospitals with English or French-speaking doctors. Tunis has some of the better medical infrastructure in North Africa, making it a reasonably reassuring base.
