🚼Pram

The heart of Split is Diocletian's Palace, a living Roman ruin with worn stone and marble underfoot that's genuinely tricky with wheels, a carrier is much easier there. Outside the old town, the Riva waterfront promenade is flat, wide and pram-friendly, and a great spot for an evening walk. Beaches like Bacvice are sandy and shallow, good for young kids.

🍽️Food & Eating

Konobas (traditional taverns) and restaurants along the Riva are used to tourist families and usually have high chairs on request, though kids' menus are less standardised than in Western Europe. Ice cream (sladoled) stands are everywhere for a quick win. Fresh produce from the Pazar green market is good for self-catering if you have an apartment kitchen.

🛡️Safety

Split is a safe city with low violent crime, though pickpocketing can happen in the busiest parts of the old town in peak summer. Tap water is safe to drink. Summer heat (often 30C+ in July-August) is the main practical hazard for toddlers, which is why late spring or September travel is more comfortable.

🏥Hospitals

University Hospital Split (KBC Split) is the main regional hospital with a pediatric department, though English fluency varies more than in Northern Europe. Pharmacies (ljekarna) are common in the city centre and generally well stocked.
