The Registan, Shah-i-Zinda, and Gur-e-Amir complexes have uneven stone courtyards, gravel paths, and steps, so a baby carrier works far better than a stroller for sightseeing. The newer pedestrian promenade near Registan Street is flatter and more manageable if you do want to bring wheels.

🍽️Food & Eating

Samarkand plov, made with yellow carrots, and fresh non bread are mild and widely available, and the Siab Bazaar has excellent fresh fruit. Stick to bottled water and peel fruit yourself as a simple precaution while traveling with young children.

🛡️Safety

Samarkand is calm and welcoming toward families, and locals often make a fuss over young children in a friendly way. Summer heat above 35C is a real hazard, so plan sightseeing for early morning or late afternoon and keep toddlers shaded and hydrated at midday.

🏥Hospitals

Samarkand's regional multidisciplinary hospital handles most urgent care needs in the city. For anything serious, families typically arrange transfer to Tashkent, about two hours away on the Afrosiyob high-speed train.
