🚼Pram

Rotterdam was rebuilt after WWII with wide modern streets, so it's one of the flattest, most stroller-friendly cities in the Netherlands, unlike the older cobbled centres of Amsterdam or Bruges. The Markthal and the area around the Cube Houses both have step-free access and are genuinely interesting for kids to look at. The metro and tram network has lifts at almost every stop.

🍽️Food & Eating

The Markthal food hall is an easy, one-stop option with huge variety, high chairs, and plenty of space for a stroller between stalls. Dutch cafes generally welcome children without fuss, and pancake houses (pannenkoeken) are a reliable, cheap favourite for toddlers. Supermarkets (Albert Heijn, Jumbo) are everywhere for self-catering.

🛡️Safety

A generally safe, modern city with lower crime than Amsterdam's busiest tourist zones. Tap water is safe to drink. Cyclists move fast and in large numbers, so the main everyday caution is keeping toddlers away from bike lanes rather than crime.

🏥Hospitals

Erasmus MC, home to the Sophia Children's Hospital, is one of the leading pediatric hospitals in Europe and has excellent English-speaking staff. Pharmacies are easy to find throughout the city centre.
