🚼Stroller
Wide boulevards, beaches, and the metro (most stations have lifts) make Barcelona manageable with a stroller. The Gothic Quarter's narrow cobblestone streets and La Boqueria market are stroller nightmares — bring a carrier for these. Park Güell and Montjuïc have steep sections.
🍽️Food & Eating
Spanish culture revolves around children — late dinners are the norm and kids are genuinely welcome everywhere. Tapas dishes are perfect for sharing with toddlers. High chairs are common in sit-down restaurants. Children eat free at many restaurants under age 3.
🛡️Safety
Generally safe but petty theft (pickpocketing and bag snatching) is a real issue around La Rambla, the Gothic Quarter, and the beach. Use anti-theft bags and keep stroller shopping bags zipped. Stay away from La Rambla after dark with young children.
🏥Hospitals
Hospital de la Vall d'Hebron and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (a dedicated children's hospital) are excellent. Many private clinics in the Eixample district have English-speaking GPs who can handle paediatric consultations same-day.
