Punta del Este is a flat, well-planned resort town with wide pavements and beachfront promenades that work well with a stroller. The peninsula's grid layout makes navigating between the ocean and bay sides straightforward on foot. In peak summer (Dec to Feb), pavements can get crowded, so early morning outings are easier with a toddler.

🍽️Food & Eating

The town is full of family-oriented restaurants serving parrilla-style grilled meats, pasta, and pizza, most with high chairs available. Beachside kiosks sell easy snacks like fruit and empanadas. Prices run higher than elsewhere in Uruguay since this is the country's premier resort destination.

🛡️Safety

Punta del Este is very safe and geared toward upscale family and holiday tourism, with a visible police presence during the summer season. Strong currents affect the ocean-facing Brava beach, the calmer bay-side Mansa beach is better suited to young children. Sun protection is essential given the strong coastal summer sun.

🏥Hospitals

Punta del Este has a well-equipped hospital and several private clinics used to seasonal tourist volumes, with generally good standards of care. Pharmacies are plentiful throughout the town center. For anything serious, Montevideo's specialist hospitals are about two hours away by road.
