The town center and Central Beach boardwalk are manageable with a stroller, but many of the best spots (Robberg Nature Reserve trails, some lookout points) involve steps and sandy paths where a carrier works better. Most self-catering accommodation is ground-floor and easy with young kids.

Restaurants along Main Street and the waterfront are used to families, with relaxed outdoor seating and simple grills and pastas that toddlers handle well. Self-catering is popular here, and the local Pick n Pay and Spar make it easy to stock up for a family with picky eaters.

🛡️Safety

Plettenberg Bay is a small, low-crime holiday town and one of the more relaxed places to bring young kids in South Africa. The main hazard is the ocean itself: swim only at the lifeguarded main beach, as rip currents can be strong elsewhere along the coast.

🏥Hospitals

Plett has a small private day clinic for minor issues, but the nearest full hospital is in George, about an hour's drive away. Most family lodges keep a list of on-call doctors, and it's worth confirming evacuation cover before booking anything remote.
