Forget the stroller here: reaching the Treasury means a 1.5km walk through the Siq canyon over uneven, sometimes sandy rock. Horse-drawn carriages and donkeys are available for hire and are genuinely useful if little legs (or parents' arms) get tired.

🍽️Food & Eating

Options near the entrance in Wadi Musa are simple and touristy but perfectly workable for kids, think grilled meats, hummus, and flatbread. Bring extra water and snacks into the site itself, as options inside are limited to a couple of basic cafes.

🛡️Safety

Petra is safe and heavily geared toward tourism, with staff along the main routes. The real risks are heat exhaustion and uneven footing on the walk in and around the monuments, morning visits (before 10am) are much cooler and less crowded.

🏥Hospitals

Wadi Musa has a small local clinic for minor issues, but the nearest full hospital is in Amman or Aqaba, both roughly a 2 to 3 hour drive. Sun protection and hydration matter more here than almost anywhere else on this list.
