Oslo is compact and stroller-friendly, with a modern metro and tram network where nearly every station has a lift. The harbourfront around Aker Brygge and the Opera House, whose roof you can walk up, are both flat, paved and built for families. Frogner Park, home of the Vigeland sculptures, has broad gravel paths that work fine with an all-terrain stroller.

🍽️Food & Eating

Norwegians are generally understated but genuinely welcoming to children in restaurants, and high chairs are standard even in mid-range places. Mathallen food hall has a wide variety of stalls so fussy eaters have options, and grocery stores (Rema 1000, Kiwi) are useful for cheaper self-catering given how expensive eating out can get. Ice cream (is) is a reliable year-round bribe.

🛡️Safety

One of the safest capitals in the world, with very low crime and a strong culture of independence for children. Tap water is among the best quality in Europe. The main thing to plan for is cost rather than danger: Oslo is consistently one of the most expensive cities in Europe for families.

🏥Hospitals

Oslo University Hospital (Ullevål) has a full pediatric emergency department and English is widely spoken by medical staff. Pharmacies (Apotek) are common in shopping streets and near transit hubs, and are well stocked for common toddler ailments.
