Osaka is flatter and easier to navigate than Tokyo, with wide pavements around Dotonbori, Umeda, and Osaka Castle Park. Most subway stations have elevators, though some older Midosuji line stations still require a short walk to find one. Universal Studios Japan and the Kaiyukan aquarium are fully stroller-friendly, but the Dotonbori canal-side streets get packed with foot traffic in the evening.

🍽️Food & Eating

Osaka is Japan's food capital and toddlers are welcomed almost everywhere, from casual okonomiyaki and takoyaki counters to family chains like Gusto and Coco Ichibanya. Department store basement food halls (depachika) are great for picking up ready-made kid-friendly meals. A few izakaya-style spots in Dotonbori are standing-room only or smoky, so it's worth checking ahead for those.

🛡️Safety

Osaka is as safe as the rest of urban Japan, with low crime and tap water that's safe to drink. The main things to plan around are summer heat and humidity (Jul-Aug) and occasional typhoon-related train disruptions in late summer. Crowds around Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi can get intense at night, so a carrier is handy for weekend evenings.

🏥Hospitals

Osaka University Hospital and Yodogawa Christian Hospital both have experience treating international patients and some English-speaking staff. Pharmacies (drugstores) are widespread for fever medicine, formula, and diapers. English signage is decent in central areas like Umeda and Namba but thinner further out.
