🚼Pram
Ljubljana's compact center is largely pedestrianized and flat along the Ljubljanica riverbank, making it one of the easier European capitals to navigate with a stroller. The main square and Tivoli Park have smooth paths, though the climb up to Ljubljana Castle is steep (a stroller-accessible funicular covers that part). Buses are low-floor and reliable.
🍽️Food & Eating
Slovenians are relaxed about children in restaurants, and riverside cafes along the Ljubljanica are happy to seat families outside. Supermarket chains like Mercator and Spar carry familiar baby food and formula brands. Odprta Kuhna (Open Kitchen), the Friday street food market, is a fun, casual option with lots of variety for picky eaters.
🛡️Safety
Slovenia consistently ranks among the safest countries in Europe, and Ljubljana's center feels comfortable to walk at any hour. Tap water is safe and genuinely good, locals are proud of it. The main thing to plan around is that many shops close on Sundays.
🏥Hospitals
University Children's Hospital Ljubljana (Pediatrična klinika) is a well-regarded facility with English-speaking staff used to treating visitors. Pharmacies (lekarna) are easy to find in the center and well stocked. As an EU member, standard travel insurance covers care smoothly.
