The city centre and City Park are flat and easy, but the star attraction, Cataract Gorge, has a mix of flat riverside boardwalk (stroller friendly) and steeper cliff-side tracks (better with a carrier). The chairlift and swimming pool area at First Basin are accessible without much climbing.

Launceston has a strong small-city food scene with plenty of family friendly cafes in the CBD and around Seaport, most offering high chairs and relaxed service. Self catering is easy with central supermarkets.

🛡️Safety

A safe, easygoing regional city with low crime. Tasmania's weather can turn cool and wet even in summer, so pack layers, and take care with young children around the fast flowing Cataract Gorge basin.

Launceston General Hospital is a major regional hospital with a full emergency department. Pharmacies are widely available across the CBD and suburban shopping centres.
