The Esplanade running along the calm, shark-netted swimming beach is flat, paved, and shaded by fig trees for several kilometres, making it one of the easiest coastal strolls in Queensland with a pram. Most family accommodation sits right along or near this strip.

🍽️Food & Eating

Cafes and casual seafood restaurants along the Esplanade cater well to families, with outdoor seating and simple menus. Supermarkets are close by for self catering during longer stays.

🛡️Safety

A calm, sheltered bay (thanks to Fraser Island offshore) with a netted swimming enclosure, making it notably safer for young children than open surf beaches. Hervey Bay is Australia's whale watching capital from roughly July to November, a highlight for families with older toddlers.

🏥Hospitals

Hervey Bay Hospital has an emergency department for routine and moderate issues, with Bundaberg or Sunshine Coast hospitals available for more serious cases. Pharmacies are easy to find along the Esplanade and central shopping areas.
