🚼Pram

Helsinki is flat, well-paved and built around a superb tram and metro network where step-free access is close to universal. Suomenlinna sea fortress is a short, cheap ferry ride and has wide paths that work fine with a stroller, and the central Esplanadi park is an easy, pram-friendly stretch for a stroll. Even the older parts of the city rarely have the cobblestone problems common further south in Europe.

🍽️Food & Eating

Finnish cafes and family restaurants are quietly excellent with children, and high chairs and kids' menus are the norm rather than the exception. The Old Market Hall (Vanha Kauppahalli) by the harbor is a great one-stop option with enough variety for even fussy eaters. Tap water is genuinely some of the best in the world, so there's no need to buy bottled.

🛡️Safety

Helsinki is routinely ranked among the world's safest and most liveable cities, with very low crime and a strong culture of trust around children. Streets are clean and well lit, and locals are used to prams being left outside shops. Winters are cold and dark, so a summer visit is far easier with a toddler.

🏥Hospitals

The New Children's Hospital (Uusi Lastensairaala), part of Helsinki University Hospital, is a purpose-built pediatric facility with excellent, English-fluent staff. Pharmacies (apteekki) are everywhere in the city centre and well stocked for common toddler needs.
