Grand Baie's resorts sit on flat, landscaped grounds that are easy with a stroller, and the public Bain Boeuf beach has paved access too. The village center is more cramped, with narrow, uneven pavements around the market and shops.

Mauritius has a genuinely diverse food scene blending Indian, Creole, Chinese, and French influences, and resort restaurants and casual beachfront spots alike are welcoming to kids. Supermarkets like Winner's stock a decent range of international baby food, though it's worth bringing familiar formula brands just in case.

🛡️Safety

Mauritius is calm, welcoming, and one of the safer destinations on this list, with low crime around the resort areas. Cyclone season runs January to March, and lagoon swimming inside the reef is generally calm and safe for young kids, while open-ocean areas outside the reef have stronger currents.

🏥Hospitals

Apollo Bramwell Hospital near Port Louis offers good private care with English-speaking staff, about 30 to 40 minutes from Grand Baie. Most resorts also have a doctor on call for minor issues.
