🚼Stroller
The Old City walls and limestone-paved Stradun are largely inaccessible for strollers — the city is built on rocky terrain with constant steps. A carrier is essential throughout the Old Town. The Lapad peninsula resort area outside the old walls is flatter and more manageable.
🍽️Food & Eating
Dubrovnik caters strongly to international tourists — Italian-style menus, fresh Adriatic seafood, and simple pasta dishes are universally available and toddler-friendly. Restaurants are accustomed to family groups and most have high chairs.
🛡️Safety
Extremely safe with very low crime. The main challenge is the extreme summer crowds (July–August) when the Old Town becomes genuinely unpleasant with strollers and overwhelming for toddlers. Visiting in May, June, or September is strongly recommended for families.
🏥Hospitals
The General Hospital Dubrovnik has basic emergency capability. For serious paediatric cases, evacuation to Split or Zagreb is the standard protocol. Travel insurance with evacuation cover is important given the limited local hospital capacity.
