Family resorts on Djerba are set up for European package holidays, with buffet spreads, kids' clubs, and high chairs the norm. Djerba Explore, a park combining a crocodile farm and heritage village, also has family-friendly food options for a day out.

Djerba is one of Tunisia's calmest, most tourism-oriented destinations and feels relaxed and easy with young children. The main practical concern is sun exposure given the island's consistently warm, dry climate.

There's a regional hospital in Houmt Souk plus several private clinics used to tourists, adequate for minor illnesses and injuries. For anything more serious, Tunis is a short flight away.
