Pest's main boulevards and the Danube embankment are flat and stroller-friendly, and the metro's older M1 line has some step access, but newer lines and most trams are step-free. The Castle District in Buda sits on a hill, reachable by funicular, which is far easier than pushing a stroller up cobbled streets.

🍽️Food & Eating

Hungarian restaurants are generally welcoming to families, and the Great Market Hall is a fun, low-pressure place to try langos and other snacks with kids. Many restaurants in the city centre now cater to tourists with English menus and high chairs as standard.

🛡️Safety

Budapest is a safe, walkable capital with low violent crime, though pickpocketing can occur in crowded tourist spots and on public transport. Tap water is safe and good quality. Trams and buses move fast, so hold hands firmly near tram stops, which sometimes sit in the middle of the road.

🏥Hospitals

Bethesda Children's Hospital is a well-regarded pediatric hospital in the city with experience treating international families. Private clinics near the city centre, such as those in District V, often have English-speaking doctors for a fee. Pharmacies (gyogyszertar) are common and clearly marked with a green cross.
