Parent Tips

🚼Pram

The seafront promenade from Hove to Brighton Marina is flat and wide, great for strollers, though the beach itself is pebble, not sand, so a buggy won't roll on it comfortably. The Lanes' narrow, cobbled streets are charming but slow going with wheels; the wider North Laine streets nearby are easier.

🍽️Food & Eating

Brighton is full of relaxed, family-friendly cafes and restaurants, especially along the seafront and in North Laine, many with high chairs and kids' menus as standard. The city's strong vegetarian and vegan scene also means plenty of simple, toddler-safe options beyond the usual chicken nuggets.

πŸ›‘οΈSafety

Brighton is generally safe and used to a high volume of families and day-trippers, though the seafront and Lanes get very crowded on summer weekends, so hold hands or use reins near the pier. Tap water is safe, and lifeguards patrol the main beaches in summer.

πŸ₯Hospitals

The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital sits next to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and provides dedicated paediatric emergency care, a rarity outside major cities. Pharmacies are easy to find throughout the city centre for everyday needs.
