Bordeaux's riverside Quai des Chartrons and the pedestrianized city centre around Place de la Bourse are flat, wide and tram-accessible, making this one of France's easier stroller cities. The tram network itself is step-free and well used by parents with prams.

🍽️Food & Eating

Bordeaux's restaurant scene blends classic French bistros with wine-country produce; most casual spots have kids' menus and high chairs. The Marche des Capucins is a good, relaxed place to pick up fresh food for younger kids. Supermarkets are well stocked with familiar baby brands.

🛡️Safety

Bordeaux is a safe, walkable city with low crime rates in the centre. Tap water is safe to drink. The Garonne river has strong tidal currents, so it's a look-don't-swim situation rather than a paddling spot for toddlers.

🏥Hospitals

CHU de Bordeaux (Pellegrin site) has a full pediatric emergency department. Pharmacies are plentiful across the city centre. English is spoken reasonably well in the more touristy central neighborhoods.
