Arusha is a safari gateway rather than a stroller destination: the town itself has patchy pavements and heavy traffic, and once on safari, game drives happen in open 4x4 vehicles rather than on foot. Family lodges tend to have flat, easy grounds within the property.

🍽️Food & Eating

Safari lodges serve buffet-style meals with kid-friendly options like pasta and chicken readily available, and staff are very experienced with fussy toddlers. Pack familiar snacks for long game drive days since options are limited once out in the parks.

🛡️Safety

This is a malaria area, so mosquito precautions and a doctor's advice on suitability for young children are essential before traveling. Wildlife safety rules are strict and well enforced at reputable lodges and during game drives, with children always closely supervised.

🏥Hospitals

Arusha has a few private clinics for minor issues, including AICC Clinic, but serious cases are typically evacuated to Nairobi. Flying Doctors membership or equivalent medical evacuation cover is genuinely worth arranging before a safari with young kids.
