🚼Pram

Antwerp is flatter and less touristy than Bruges, with wide pedestrian zones around the Grote Markt and Cathedral of Our Lady that work well with a stroller. Antwerp Zoo, right next to Centraal Station, is fully pram-friendly and a genuine highlight for young kids. Trams are the easiest way to cover longer distances and most stops are step-free.

🍽️Food & Eating

Antwerp has a laid-back, family-friendly food scene, with plenty of casual bistros around Het Zuid and the Meir shopping street offering high chairs and kids' portions. Belgian classics like frites, waffles, and simple pasta dishes are easy to find everywhere. Supermarkets are well stocked for families self-catering in an apartment.

🛡️Safety

A generally safe city with low violent crime, though normal caution around the main train station and busy shopping streets is sensible, as with any mid-size European city. Tap water is safe to drink. Cyclists are numerous and fast, so keep a close eye on toddlers near bike lanes.

🏥Hospitals

Antwerp University Hospital (UZA) has a dedicated pediatric department and generally good English among staff. Pharmacies are easy to find around the Meir and central shopping districts.
