Aitutaki is a tiny, very remote atoll reached by a short onward flight from Rarotonga, with unpaved, sandy tracks around most accommodation, so a stroller is of limited use. The star attraction, the lagoon, is explored by boat rather than on foot, which is why this suits walking-age toddlers better than pre-walkers.

🍽️Food & Eating

Dining options are limited to a handful of resorts and small local eateries, most casual and happy to accommodate kids, but menus are simple and self catering supplies are limited, so bring any specific toddler food needs with you.

🛡️Safety

Extremely safe and quiet, with one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world for calm, shallow swimming. Sun exposure on the boat lagoon cruises is intense, and life jackets are essential for young children on any boat trip.

🏥Hospitals

There is only a very small local health clinic on Aitutaki, with no hospital: anything beyond minor issues requires evacuation to Rarotonga or New Zealand, so this destination needs careful health planning and travel insurance with evacuation cover.
