The National Mall is flat, wide, and entirely stroller-friendly, and nearly all Smithsonian museums have elevators and are free to enter, which is a huge advantage for families managing nap schedules. The Metro has elevators at most stations, though it's worth checking ahead as some are occasionally out of service.
π½οΈFood & Eating
The Smithsonian museum cafeterias and the many casual restaurants around Eastern Market and Georgetown are all set up for kids. Tap water is safe to drink.
π‘οΈSafety
The National Mall, Georgetown, and Capitol Hill tourist corridors are well policed and safe for families, though as in any capital city it's worth sticking to well-trafficked areas at night. Spring cherry blossom season is beautiful but very crowded.
π₯Hospitals
Children's National Hospital is one of the top paediatric hospitals in the US and centrally located. Pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens) are on nearly every corner for everyday needs.
