Parent Tips

🚼Pram

The southern resort strip from Costa Adeje to Los Cristianos has flat promenades, ramps and lifts that make stroller use easy, though the island's volcanic terrain gets steep and uneven quickly inland. Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje are the most pram-friendly bases for a family stay.

🍽️Food & Eating

Family-oriented restaurants and international chains cluster around the southern resorts, with high chairs and kids' menus standard. Local guachinches (informal home restaurants) are great for trying Canarian food like papas arrugadas, though they're less set up for very young children. Supermarkets are well stocked with familiar baby brands.

πŸ›‘οΈSafety

Tenerife is very safe for families, with low crime in the main resort areas. Tap water is technically safe but often tastes of minerals, so most visitors use bottled water. The main hazards are strong Atlantic currents on north-coast beaches (stick to the calmer, sheltered southern beaches with toddlers) and sun intensity, which is stronger than mainland Europe.

πŸ₯Hospitals

Hospital Universitario Nuestra Senora de Candelaria near Santa Cruz is the main public hospital, and the private Hospiten and Quironsalud chains have English-speaking staff and locations near the southern resorts. Pharmacies in Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos are well stocked and easy to find.
