Because the region is spread across several towns, a car is the most practical way to get around with a family. Fresh seafood and tropical fruit are local specialties, with milder options available for younger kids. Tap water is safe to drink throughout the region.

The Sunshine Coast is very safe and specifically popular with Australian families for exactly that reason. Patrolled beaches (always swim between the flags) make ocean swimming manageable even with young children. Sun exposure is the main practical concern given Queensland's strong UV levels year-round.
