Antigua's famous claim of 365 beaches means you'll likely be moving between them by car, a lightweight stroller travels easiest. Most resorts have smooth grounds throughout.

Resort restaurants and beach bars cater comfortably to kids, and local dishes like fungee and pepperpot are mild and easy to introduce in small portions. Supermarkets in St John's carry familiar international brands. Bottled water is the safer default.

Antigua is generally calm and tourist-friendly, with most visitors staying around the well-serviced resort beaches without issue. As with the wider Caribbean, stick to known areas after dark and use resort or registered taxis. Many beaches are calm and reef-protected, good for young swimmers, though it's worth checking with your resort which ones suit toddlers best.

Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre in St John's is the main hospital, with English-speaking staff (Antigua is English-speaking throughout) though facilities are more limited than on bigger islands. For anything serious, evacuation to Miami or Puerto Rico is standard, so confirm your travel insurance covers this. Pharmacies are available in St John's town center.
