Cagliari's Poetto beach promenade and the main resort towns along the Costa Smeralda have decent flat paths, but much of Sardinia's coastline involves sandy dunes, rocky coves and limited pavement, so a carrier is useful for exploring beyond the main boulevards.

Sardinian restaurants are relaxed and family-friendly, with simple pasta dishes, pizza and fresh seafood widely available. Agriturismi (farm restaurants) inland offer generous, home-style meals that work well for groups with kids, though they're less common in the busiest resort areas. Supermarkets stock standard baby supplies.

🛡️Safety

Sardinia is one of Italy's safest regions, with low crime even in tourist hotspots. Tap water is safe to drink. Some beaches have strong currents or steep drop-offs just offshore, so stick to sheltered, lifeguarded spots like Poetto in Cagliari with toddlers.

🏥Hospitals

Ospedale Pediatrico Microcitemico in Cagliari is a dedicated children's hospital serving the whole island. In the northern Costa Smeralda resorts, the nearest full hospital is in Olbia, so it's worth noting the drive time from more remote accommodation. Pharmacies are found in all the main towns.
