Hainan's beach resort strip, including Atlantis Sanya and the big hotel chains along Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay, is built for families with flat paved paths and elevators throughout. Beyond the resort belt, pavements are less consistent, so day trips into town work better with a carrier.

Resort restaurants offer international menus with high chairs as standard, and fresh tropical fruit and mild seafood are easy to find for toddlers. Choices get more limited once you're away from the resort strip, so it's worth stocking up on familiar snacks.

Sanya benefits from Hainan's special visa-free entry policy for many nationalities, which makes it noticeably easier to visit than mainland China generally, and it feels relaxed and safe throughout. Strong sun and occasional jellyfish are the main beach hazards to watch for.

🏥Hospitals

Sanya People's Hospital covers routine needs but has limited English, and the bigger resorts typically have an on-call doctor for minor issues. For anything serious, families are usually referred to Haikou or a major mainland city, so solid travel insurance is worth having.
