The town centre and Government Gardens are flat and stroller friendly, and boardwalks at geothermal parks like Te Puia and Wai-O-Tapu are built for tour groups so they're generally accessible, though steam and geyser viewing platforms can have a short flight of steps here and there.

🍽️Food & Eating

Rotorua's Eat Street precinct has a great range of casual, family friendly restaurants with high chairs, and Maori cultural evenings (hangi feasts) often welcome young children with earlier, simpler menus. Supermarkets are central and convenient.

🛡️Safety

A safe town, but the sulphur smell from geothermal activity takes some adjusting to, and hot pools and mud pots at geothermal parks need close supervision with toddlers, since some areas have unfenced hot ground. Stick to marked paths at all geothermal sites.

🏥Hospitals

Rotorua Hospital has an emergency department serving the wider region. Pharmacies are easy to find in the compact town centre.
