The Airlie Beach foreshore boardwalk and the free public lagoon pool area are flat, paved, and stroller friendly, with the main street just a short stroll uphill. Boat transfers to Whitsundays islands and the Great Barrier Reef require carrying a stroller on and off, so a carrier is handy for reef day trips.
π½οΈFood & Eating
The foreshore strip has plenty of casual, family friendly cafes and restaurants with high chairs, and the free saltwater lagoon pool is a favourite spot for a relaxed toddler friendly lunch nearby. IGA and Coles supermarkets in town cover self catering.
π‘οΈSafety
A laid back, low crime town, though ocean swimming is limited by marine stingers (roughly November to May) and crocodile advisories, which is why the netted lagoon pool is so popular with families. Reef and island boat trips need sun protection and seasickness planning for little ones.
π₯Hospitals
Whitsunday Hospital in nearby Proserpine handles emergencies, with Mackay Base Hospital the regional referral centre for anything more serious. Pharmacies and medical centres are available in central Airlie Beach for everyday needs.
